All the hard work paid off on Thursday 14th December when the media team from Argoed were presented with the 'Best Citizenship Film' award at the Active Citizenship Network Awards Ceremony 2005. Training took place last summer term when Argoed hosted a workshop for a number of schools involved in the project. Students were trained in the techniques of video film making and editing. Their first 'product' was a short film designed to market the school. It was premiered in June 2005 in front of an audience of parents who had attended an evening meeting in preparation for their daughters and sons coming to the school for the first time in September 2005. It was well received by all who saw it and there were many comments about the high quality of the film. The second film was designed to encourage young people to become community volunteers and was based on Daffodils, a local support group for children. It was this film that was submitted to the Active Citizenship Network and which scooped the top award. Well done to all members of the team - it was a tremendous achievement and we are very proud of them.
Look out for short clips from both films which will be included on the podcast website early in the new year.
